The Career Services Network assists students in all stages of their career planning and decision-making process. Career advisors help students choose among educational and career options. We offer services to help students:

  • Uncover their skills, interests and values. Assessments are one way to accomplish this. Learn more about assessments.
  • Identify career options that would be a good fit
  • Find career-related experience
  • Decide how graduate or professional school fits into their plans
  • Polish resumes or cover letters
  • Create a job or internship search strategy
  • Prepare for interviews
  • Develop a plan for applying to graduate or professional school

The assistance provided by career advisors is different from that provided by academic advisors. In career services we help students to see the bigger picture, make a plan, make decisions, and make connections to achieve their career goals. An academic advisor tends to be most effective in helping the student select specific courses to achieve career goals and meet academic requirements.

To refer a student for individual career advising, please have them make an appointment using the on-line system at http://careernetwork.msu.edu/students/advising. We also welcome your call at 517-355-9510.

The Career Services Network has several advisors located across campus that are ready to assist students with their career planning needs. Field Career Consultants are present in 7 different colleges and specialize in customized services, programming and career resources specific to the colleges they serve.
