This interest field combines the business areas of accounting, finance, sales, and marketing to manage and operate businesses that provide service, lodging, food and related products.  Skills include understanding the operation of a business, profit and loss, and the ability to work with people to solve problems related to service issues.  The hospitality industry includes hotels, resorts, and time-share vacation properties, as well as restaurants, clubs, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, sports and entertainment venues, and small businesses.  Travel and tourism support the hospitality industry.  Food management employs staff in managerial positions with food wholesalers, distributors and retailers as well as in sales, account management, and product supervision with food manufacturers.
