After the Interview
After your interview, you should send the interviewer a thank you letter to thank him/her for taking the time to interview and to re-confirm your interest in the position. Also, if the interviewer has said that you would be notified regarding the position on a certain day, make arrangements to be home to take the call.
If the employer does not call at the set time, you should make a follow-up call. If you have arranged to call the employer back, make sure you do it at the arranged time. If no arrangement was made and you haven’t heard from the employer in about two weeks, go ahead and give them a call.
During a follow-up call
-
Speak to the person who interviewed you.
-
Introduce yourself and remind him/her why you are calling.
-
If a decision still hasn’t been made, ask if you can call back at a later date and when you should.
-
Thank the employer–even if you don’t get hired, you never know, you may apply for a position there again.
