Students will engage in assisting the University Advancement receptionist with greeting visitors to answer questions, provide services, and direct them to appropriate sources. The position involves answering a multi-line phone system, screening, prioritizing, and routing calls for the Vice President’s Office, MSU Alumni, donors, and staff. Candidates must be dependable, friendly, and courteous, answer phones quickly and professionally, and be helpful to our visitors and callers. This position will also involve assisting the main receptionist with sorting and distributing mail for the building. Applicants must be able to work during the time frame of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, all year round.

- Possess the ability to work well with a variety of people representing diverse audiences and perspectives.
- Willingness to learn and understand University news and developments
- Demonstrated sill in handling multiple tasks and highly organized
- Punctuality is required
- Must follow University Advancement’s dress code. The dress code for this position is business casual
- Must display excellent interpersonal skills which include a courteous and friendly attitude when interacting with customers.
- Must answer phones quickly and professionally, and be helpful to visitors, callers and coworkers.
- Understand the importance of philanthropy
- Maintain a clean receptionist area
- Possess excellent writing and communication skills
This position is considered temporary/part-time status due to its student employment status. The position has the potential to extend beyond several years and the end date can be dependent on the student’s expected graduation date.
