Position Overview:
The MSU College of Education Budget Office is seeking a student finance assistant. The student should be responsible and detail-oriented to provide administrative and operational support. The student assistant will work closely with the College Budget Officer, Dean’s Office Accountant, and other college budget staff to assist in managing the college’s financial records, preparing budget reports, analyzing data and providing general office support. This position offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical experience in finance, budgeting, and higher education administration.
Key Responsibilities & Skills:
- Assist with the preparation and processing of departmental budget reports.
- Help track and update budget data in spreadsheets or financial software.
- Support the reconciliation of budget discrepancies and monitor budget variances.
- Assist in researching and gathering financial and HR data for budget forecasts and planning processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to financial privacy policies.
- Support various budget-related projects as assigned.
- Perform general office tasks such as filing, copying, and scanning documents.
