International Studies and Programs is looking for a highly creative, globally minded student to join the ISP Communications team as a student graphic designer. In this role, the student graphic designer will help create compelling visual content for print, digital, and social media that connects with a variety of audiences. This position is a great fit for someone who has a pulse on the latest design trends, enjoys brainstorming fresh ideas, and understands the power of storytelling through visual communication. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, an eye for inclusion and an appreciation for global engagement in all its forms. This is a hybrid position, requiring at least 50% in-person hours.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the ISP communications team to create and edit visual communication elements for social, digital and print media
- Work in collaboration with the ISP Student Social Media Content Creator to produce creative content that resonates with Global Spartan students, faculty, staff, alumni and partners.
- Translate ideas into presentation-ready concepts and design mock-ups.
- Ensure all design content aligns with MSU and ISP brand guidelines and templates.
- Support administrative tasks as needed.
Skills and abilities
- Clear understanding of design fundamentals, including knowledge of layout, typography, line composition, color, file preparation, etc.
- Proficiency with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat); photography, video and/or animation experience is a plus.
- Ability to ensure edits and revisions are accurate and complete
- Strong ability to take initiative and work independently
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English; additional language skills appreciated
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines
- Able to be attend weekly staff meetings and other occasional meetings as required.
Education/Experience
- Current MSU student for the duration of employment.
- One to two years of demonstrated experience in graphic design for digital media communications and/or social media.
- College coursework in creative graphic design for social media, marketing, or communications.
