Join the Office of Research and Innovation as a Student Media and Communications Assistant II! This is an ideal position for a motivated student interested in science communication and promotion. Experience with MS Office suite of products is required. Working with website content management systems, understanding of social media platforms, best practices and trends, experience with graphics design software, and knowledge of best practices for web accessibility are a plus.
Strong communication skills are a must along with the ability to multi-task.
Complementary areas of study include marketing, communications, health promotion, general business, customer relationship management, and computer science, but all majors are welcome to apply.
This position is eligible to be used as an internship. Applicants must be an MSU student in good standing. This position reports to the Director of Communications for the Office of Research and Innovation.
Duties primarily include website, social media, and event support.
- Prepares materials, slides and registration materials for events. May also book venues and order refreshments. Keeps track of registrations and orders supplies as needed.
- Develops social media posts based on predetermined subjects and objectives.
- Audits web pages for outdated content or web accessibility issues and remediates issues.
- Edits current content and loads new content to all websites supported by the office.
- Designs graphics for web and social media posts and edits photos as needed.
