The Broad College of Business is hiring undergraduate (current juniors) who will be seniors majoring in business next year to be Career Peer Coaches in the Russell Palmer Career Management Center for the 2024/25 academic year. Weekly hours will average 8-10 but may fluctuate from 5-12 depending on workload, course/teaching, and recruiting season demands. There is relative flexibility in establishing regular, weekly hours.
Responsibilities include:
- Advise business admitted and preference students on their career development and job search strategies related to major and/or minor.
- Support the in-person BUS 100 career seminar by grading assignments and facilitating exercises in class.
- Coach on issues related to resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, interviewing, navigating career fairs, networking, and exploring business careers.
- Serve other students in the capacity of virtual or in-person 1:1 pre-scheduled or drop-in appointments, and pre-scheduled weekly drop-by hours.
- Present in career courses, workshops/chats, and Broad student organization meetings.
- Collaborate on visibility, marketing, and accessibility of Palmer Center strategies.
- Career-related projects as assigned, such as employment verifications, career fair logistics support, or designing flyers.
Required qualifications:
- Broad College rising Senior graduating in Dec. ‘25 or Spring ’26
- Completed (or will complete) at least one internship experience before starting position in fall ’25
- Participated in MSU/Broad College on-campus recruiting process, or a self-directed job search, and be familiar with job search resources and processes, such as using Handshake, LinkedIn, and networking
- Strong attention to detail and work ethic
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and autonomy
- Available for remote summer training, in-person training prior to the beginning of the school year, and a meeting before spring ’25 semester ends
Preferred qualifications:
- Leadership experience
- Interest and/or experience in mentoring/advising/coaching peers
