The Broad College of Business is hiring undergraduates (current juniors) who will be seniors in the Broad College of Business, majoring in one of the 6 majors (not Hospitality Business) to be Peer Career Coaches in the Russell Palmer Career Management Center for the 2026/27 academic year. Weekly hours will average 8-10 but may fluctuate from 5-12 depending on workload, events, and recruiting season demands. There is relative flexibility in establishing regular, weekly hours.
Responsibilities include:
- Advise all business students on their career development and job search strategies related to majors and/or minor.
- Support the in-person BUS 100 career seminar(s) by grading assignments and activities/ exercises in class.
- Coach on issues related to resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, interviewing, navigating career fairs, networking, and exploring business careers and majors.
- Serve other students in the capacity of virtual or in-person 1:1 pre-scheduled or drop-in appointments, and pre-scheduled weekly drop-by hours.
- Present in career courses, workshops, and Broad student organization meetings.
- Support career-related projects as assigned, such as employment confirmations and career fair logistics
Required qualifications:
- Broad College rising senior graduating in Dec. ’26 or May ‘27
- Completed (or will complete) at least one internship experience before starting role.
- Participated in MSU/Broad College on-campus recruiting process, or a self-directed job search, and be familiar with job search resources and processes such as using Handshake, LinkedIn, networking, and participating in on-campus recruiting events.
- Strong attention to detail and work ethic
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision
- Available for remote summer training for about 10-12 hours, in-person training prior to the beginning of the school year, and a meeting before spring ’27 semester ends
- Any student who has reneged on a previous job offer will not be granted an interview or considered for student positions in the Palmer Center
Preferred qualifications:
- Leadership experience
- Interest and/or experience in mentoring/advising/coaching peers
