Math Tutor – FAME Program
This flexible, in-person position provides individualized and small-group academic support to college students participating in the FAME program, helping them strengthen foundational and course specific math skills to support academic success and timely progress toward graduation. This role focuses on fostering confidence, problem-solving strategies, and independent learning in math related coursework.
Minimum Requirements
- Current undergraduate junior/senior or graduate student with strong academic performance in college-level mathematics.
- Successful completion of introductory and intermediate university math courses (e.g., algebra, statistics, or calculus).
- Ability to communicate clearly, break down complex concepts, and adapt explanations to different learning styles.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in college-level math concepts and problem-solving.
- Patience, active listening, and supportive communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Skilled in organizing study plans, modeling effective learning strategies, and encouraging academic confidence.
Expected Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions to FAME students in math courses across levels.
- Support students in understanding assignments, preparing for exams, and improving study and time-management skills.
- Collaborate with FAME staff to track student progress and identify academic support needs.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation of tutoring sessions and student engagement.
