The Multicultural Center at Michigan State University is seeking enthusiastic and inclusive
student assistants to support our mission of fostering a welcoming and diverse community. As a
student assistant, you will play a vital role in creating an inviting atmosphere for all visitors
while assisting with the daily operations of the center.
Key Responsibilities:
Visitor Engagement: Greet visitors warmly and assist them with inquiries. Ensure all
visitors sign in using the provided QR code system.
Students must be knowledgeable of the building layout and all the services the
building provides.
Communication: Answer phone calls, transferring them as needed, and taking messages
for center staff.
Office Maintenance: Regularly walk around the office to tidy up and ensure a clean,
organized environment during your shift.
Mail Management: Sort and distribute incoming mail to ensure timely delivery to staff
members.
Supply Organization: Maintain and organize building and storage supplies, ensuring
that everything is accessible and in order.
Snack Restocking: Monitor snack supplies and restock as needed to keep offerings fresh
and available for visitors.
Supply Log Administration: Manage the online supplies sign-out log, tracking items
that are borrowed and returned.
Sanitation Duties: Wipe down high-traffic areas, including surfaces and doorknobs, with
multipurpose cleaner to maintain a safe and healthy environment, and general
maintenance of bathrooms.
Duties are subject to change due to the ever-changing needs of the Multicultural Center.

Required Qualifications:
Must be able to attend a required one day in-person training on Friday, January 10,
2025.
Current student at Michigan State University.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with online logging systems.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness and organization.
College work-study preferred but not required.
