Position Purpose
The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Undergraduate Student Employee plays a key role in supporting health and well-being initiatives on campus. This position assists with planning, coordinating, and facilitating educational events, student feedback sessions, and outreach efforts focused on harm reduction and responsible decision-making related to alcohol and other drugs.
Through this role, students will gain valuable experience in health promotion, leadership, public speaking, and event coordination while making a meaningful impact on the campus community.

Key Responsibilities

Event Support & Coordination:
- Assist in planning, setting up, and facilitating AOD educational events and outreach activities on and off campus.
- Help with event logistics such as setup, tear-down, and engaging students during programming.

Student Feedback & Engagement:
- Organize and facilitate student feedback sessions to gather input on AOD messaging, outreach materials, and campaigns.
- Collaborate with the team to incorporate student feedback into future initiatives.

Educational Presentations:
- Co-facilitate presentations on AOD-related topics for student groups, residence halls, and other campus audiences.
- Share harm-reduction strategies and promote campus resources in a supportive and approachable way.

Administrative & Department Support:
- Assist the Health Promotion department with administrative tasks such as outreach tracking, material preparation, and project support as needed.
- Respond promptly to communication and coordinate availability for events and meetings.

Position Expectations
- Communicate professionally and respond to emails within 2 business days.
- Arrive early for events (at least 15 minutes) to ensure smooth preparation.
- Actively participate in event execution and departmental initiatives.
- Stay flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, tasks, and priorities.
- Collaborate effectively with the Health Promotion team and maintain a positive attitude.

Skills & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled student with a strong interest in health promotion, public health, education, or related fields.
- Comfortable with public speaking and facilitating discussions.
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn about AOD education and harm-reduction strategies.
