Thank You Notes

Why write a Thank You note?

  • You will stand out in the crowd – employers appreciate thank you notes!
  • Employers don’t often receive hand-written mail from college students – make a good impression!

 Tips for a great note!

  • Always send a hand written thank you card within 24 hours of the interview
  • Type out your message first for easy editing and spell-checking
  • Keep your thank you short and to the point
  • Read your message out loud before hand-writing the note
  • Make sure the employer can read your writing!
  • If there were multiple interviewers, send them all thank you notes

Sample Thank You (hand write yours!)

Dear Ms. Jones,

Thank you for meeting with me to discuss the Communications Internship. Our talk confirmed my interest in joining the Ace Tech team. I’m eager to use my writing and multi-media skills in support of your popular monthly newsletter. My classroom and work experiences have prepared me to meet your communications needs. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sincerely,

Amanda Getajob
