Description: Are you interested in undergraduate research? We are looking for students passionate about sustainability, structural engineering, and/or engineering education to work with faculty and students from Civil Engineering and Construction Management, on ongoing efforts to support research focused on the use of Mass Timber for building design and construction. Ongoing and potential future projects include (a) impacts of mass timber on indoor environmental quality, (b) methods of improving the sustainability and efficiency of mass timber production, (c) assessment of mass timber environmental product declarations (EPDs), (d) development and evaluation of curriculum needs in mass timber vs. current coverage, among others
Time Commitment: We are looking for students interested in Undergraduate Research Assistant (URA) position in Summer 2024. Some work will be done independently and other components collaboratively with a group of graduate and undergraduate students and faculty.
Desired qualifications:
- Interest in both quantitative and qualitative research
- Familiarity with mass timber
- Interest and background in sustainability, civil engineering, and engineering education
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work alone and with a team in a research-based environment
- Strong analytical skills
