Impact 89FM is seeking an outgoing and highly organized student to serve as the Events Director. This essential role supports the station’s visibility and engagement across campus and in the local community. The Events Director works closely with the Marketing Director to plan, coordinate, and staff event-related initiatives, helping promote Impact 89FM’s brand, mission, and programming.

Position Summary:
The Events Director is responsible for coordinating Impact 89FM’s live event presence, including tabling opportunities, promotional appearances, and mobile DJ events. This role involves scheduling and training event staff, maintaining event-related equipment and supplies, and working with campus and community partners. The Events Director also collaborates with the Program Director to develop playlists for events and trains staff members on driving and using the station van.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Coordination: Work with campus and community partners to schedule and manage station presence at tabling opportunities and DJ events.
DJ Scheduling: Coordinate with staff members to assign DJs for live events and ensure all shifts are properly filled.
Staff Training: Train staff on event DJing best practices and certify drivers for the station van.
Equipment Management: Maintain and organize the station’s event kits, PA systems, cables, and giveaway supplies.
Playlist Collaboration: Work with the Program Director to create appropriate playlists for various event settings.
Logistics & Records: Track event participation, staff involvement, and equipment usage.
Station Representation: Serve as a first point of contact between Impact 89FM and event hosts or collaborators.
Merchandise Oversight: Assist the Marketing Director in identifying and restocking promotional items and giveaway materials.
Van Management: Stock the station van with necessary supplies and ensure it is clean, safe, and event-ready.
Collaboration: Coordinate with the Marketing Director to align event strategy with station marketing efforts.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to university policies, FCC guidelines, and copyright regulations.
Event Support: Represent Impact 89FM at events throughout the academic year and assist in planning outreach initiatives.
Project Management: Track and meet deadlines for event-related initiatives and support broader station goals.
Basic Requirements:
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at Michigan State University.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable leading staff and representing the station publicly.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience at Impact 89FM or another media organization.
Familiarity with the station’s mission, vision, and values.
Experience in event planning, marketing, or DJing.
Comfortable troubleshooting audio gear or live event setups.
