Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (IPF) is seeking IT Student Technicians who report through MSU Information Technology. Selected candidates will operate or assist in the operation of computers and software applications; maintain equipment; prepares classrooms for playback of videotaped material. The role may require knowledge of appropriate computer applications related to the area of employment. Operates computers and uses/maintains software applications; maintains equipment. Trains other student employees. Requires related experience.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
40% Receive and accomplish assignments related to any of the following Computer & Mobile Device:
- Hardware issues and maintenance
- Software issues and installation
- Deployment, setup and distribution
30% Most of your assignments should come in through the ticket system, but you may also receive assignments directly from a Full-Time Employee or from a customer via email, phone, walk-in. When you receive an assignment through another method, you are expected to document that assignment by creating a ticket in the ticket system.
30% General activities including the following:
- Conference Room Maintenance
- End-User security practices and efficient use of computers
- Cleaning and general upkeep of our office and tools
Minimum Requirements
Currently attending Michigan State University, a local university in Michigan or a local K-12 high school with a work permit
Proficient with Microsoft Windows
Basic knowledge of computer architecture
Some Technology Support experience
Preferred Qualifications
Customer service experience
Problem solving skills
