In this position, you will play an integral role by assisting in a wide variety of routine manual labor tasks related to general landscape and grounds maintenance and more. This position is great for Turf students looking to start their journey in landscaping, or anyone looking for a fun summer job working outdoors. Flexible schedule Monday – Friday from 6:00AM – 2:30PM, with the ability to work up to 40 hours/week during the summer and 12-29 hours/week during the semester. This is a seasonal position, expecting to work April – November.
Assists the MSU Forest Akers Golf Course from April – November with planting and transporting of flowers, shrubs, trees, mulch, etc.; Unloads materials, prepares soils for different plants and greenery by tiling beds, and edging and raking beds; Cultivates, weeds, waters and fertilizes plants; Maintains University outdoor areas including grounds, roads, sidewalks, and other paved or unpaved areas; Recycles and disposes of litter debris; Waters and maintains golf course greens, fairways, roughs, and trees; Cleans equipment, performs daily greasing, and checks oil and fuel levels of equipment; Performs leaf removal.
REQUIREMENTS
- 18 years of age
- Enrolled as an MSU student
- Able to pass driver background check (fewer than 3 moving violations in last 3 years)
- Willing to work in variable weather conditions and early morning hours
- Participate in football tailgate cleanup
- Wear appropriate safety footwear such as a work boots
- Have a smart phone to enter hours worked for payroll
- Dependable and a team player with a positive attitude
- Ability to lift 26 to 75 pounds with occasional lifting over 75 pounds
Desired: Prior experience in the landscaping or agricultural industry.
