MSU Recycling is seeking Student Recycling Assistants to process recyclable material from campus locations and the public recycling drop off. Occasional waste diversion projects to keep recyclable material from landfill. We use the latest technology to sort material, including a robotic sorter. We are looking for summer help, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 7am-3:30pm. Some additional work may be available. Your nights and weekends are free although we do have some event-based work students can sign up for if they so desire.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Sorting material such as paper, plastic and cardboard.
· Occasional clean-up of recycling around the building and Public Recycling Drop-off.
· Must be able to occasionally lift 15-25 lbs.
Desired Qualifications:
· An interest in recycling and diverting material from the landfill.
· An early-riser, organized, dependable, self-reliant and hard-working.
· Ability to communicate, work in a team atmosphere and ask questions when in doubt.
· The ability to identify things that can be re-used and diverted to Surplus/Upcycle.
Additional Information:
Work hours are Monday through Wednesday 7am-3:30pm. We will work around summer classes if needed. Your nights and weekends are free! You can start any time from immediately to the start of summer semester.
Hourly Pay-rate: $13, with review and rate increase after 60 days.
