This position provides a great opportunity to gain hands-on supply chain operations experience!
This position supports University Procurement and Logistics (UPL) by safely assisting in day-to-day operations within Logistics. Logistics manages inbound and outbound shipment handling and delivery. Position Duties
- Demonstrate superior customer service and professional communications both written and verbal, as this is core to our service mission to Michigan State University.
- Learn safe work habits and contribute to a safe work environment.
- Operate computer applications using PC and hand-held devices.
- Move materials/products using both motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Assist with lifting and moving items as needed, following proper safety guidelines.
- Learn and apply receiving protocols to ensure risk mitigation.
- Receive, sort, load, count, and prepare materials to enhance accuracy.
- Unload materials/products at central receiving and place in designated areas.
- May assist with the distribution and pick-up of products and other materials to and from defined campus sites.
- Obtain 49CFR Hazardous Materials general awareness, safety and security certification within 90 days of hire.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve efficient workflow and meet deadlines.
- Provide support in other related tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.
- On-site position: Variable hours, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm
Minimum Education/Experience
Open to all students but preference will be given to those seeking a Supply Chain Management degree.
Desired Qualifications
Experience driving forklifts and/or large equipment is beneficial but not required.
Physical Demands
Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional team lifting of over 75 pounds.
Bending, squatting, and lifting required.

- 40% – Unload, sort, count inbound materials
- 40% – Operate computer applications using PC and hand-held devices
- 15% – Stage materials for distribution
- 5% – Operational support tasks
